East Brother Island Station Dinner, Bed & Breakfast is undoubtedly a unique place — even the process by which sewage is removed from the island is interesting.

Richmond Mayor Tom Butt, the founder and president of East Brother Light Station, Inc., posted the above YouTube video on Wednesday showing a 25-ton vactor truck being loaded onto a transport boat. The vactor truck was en route to pump out the septic tank on the island.

As Mayor Butt described it on Facebook:

“It wasn’t exactly D-Day, but the logistics of getting 25-ton vactor truck to East Brother Island to pump out the septic tank are daunting. The truck, provided by RES Environmental, assisted by Veolia, is shown in the video being loaded aboard an LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) at Marina Bay Launch Ramp. The LCM was provided by Parker Diving Service.”
