Richmond urban garden tour and contest set for Saturday

Richmond residents will be able to tour edible gardens created by their neighbors throughout the city at the kick-off this Saturday for Mayor Tom Butt’s first Urban Garden Contest Showcase.

The mayor launched the contest to recognize top amateur gardeners and encourage more residents in Richmond and North Richmond to grow their own food.

To learn more about the contest and prizes offered for winning gardens, see our previous story here. Contest participants will vie for the title, “Best Edible Garden in Richmond 2016.”

This Saturday, community members who register to tour edible gardens in the city will be given a map and will meet at 9:30 a.m. on the Richmond Greenway at 6th Street and Ohio Avenue. To register for the tour,  click here or visit
