San Pablo Mayor Rich Kinney went on a tour of the new Contra Costa College campus facilities and was impressed by all, especially the new kitchen facilities that will be used by the school’s culinary arts program.

The mayor posted these photos of the new culinary workshop on his Facebook page.

“Beautiful, stylish, and state of the art!” Mayor Kinney stated in the post. “Our Community is wonderfully blessed!”

Kinney also touted the campus’ new restaurant, bookstore, cafeteria, lecture hall and classrooms.

“Everything is impressive!” he said.

The $52 million construction of the Campus Center, which includes three new modern buildings, replaces the 57-year-old Student Activities and Humanities buildings, which was demolished before the 2014 fall semester.

According to the architects, the Classroom Building houses 11 classrooms, four computer labs, a 200-seat tiered lecture hall and various faculty offices; the Student Activities Building houses Culinary Arts (with restaurant), Student Life, Food Services, the Bookstore and Business Services. And the Fireside Community Building acts as a community center.

Students will be ready to use the new facilities this coming fall.
