A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in North Richmond on Friday, marking the second fatal shooting in the community this week, according to the Contra Costa Office of the Sheriff.

Deputies responded to shots fired about 7:45 p.m. near the corner of Fifth Street and Grove Avenue and found the gunshot victim on the sidewalk. He was taken to Kaiser Medical Center in Richmond, then John Muir Medical in Walnut Creek, where he died, sheriff’s officials said.

Officials later learned that a second shooting victim went to Kaiser, where he was treated and released.

No identities or suspect information was immediately available. However, on the Richmond Standard Facebook page readers posted a account for the famiy of a young man named Adan.

“My brother of 19 was shot by gang members while he was out with friends getting food,” according to the gofundme account. “He received three shots to his chest, one impacted his heart and ultimately caused his death. My brother is survived by his 2 year old daughter. I started this based on a suggestion by a friend. We’re raising funds for his funeral.”

It was the second fatal shooting in North Richmond since Sunday, when 26-year-old Antoine Robinson was fatally shot in the area of Market Avenue and Fred Jackson Way, a case that remains unsolved.

Anyone with information on any of the shootings is asked to call the sheriff’s investigations division at (925) 313-2600.
