On Aug. 13, Richmond hopes to reclaim the Guinness World Record for largest ever gathering of Rosie the Riveter lookalikes, after a group in Michigan stole the title last year in what has shaped out to be a rather productive friendly rivalry.

On Friday, Rosie the Riveter Trust announced on Facebook the intention to gather up to 5,000 women and girls dressed like Rosie for a massive rally on Aug. 13. To RSVP, go here.

These Rosie rallies have become a competition over which part of the U.S. can most loudly keep the memory of Rosie the Riveter alive. Rosie the Riveter, a character appearing on famous WWII-era recruitment posters, represents women who assumed industrial jobs to support the war effort.

In March 2014, 776 women and girls dressed as Rosie met at the Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, MI, setting the initial record for the largest gathering. Then last year, the record was broken at The Rosie the Riveter Memorial in Marina Bay Park in Richmond when 1,084 lookalikes gathered (pictured above).

Shortly after that feat, however, the Michigan contingent stole back the record by gathering more than 2,000 lookalikes at Willow Run Airport, a former WWII bomber plant.
