An illegal marijuana growing operation was busted in Richmond last week as part of an investigation by Hercules police.

Unusually high utility bills attracted the investigation into a home in the 4000 block of Garvin Avenue in Richmond, as well as a home in the 100 block of Crane Court in Hercules, according to Hercules police.

Combined at both residents, 744 marijuana plants in various stages of growth were seized, along with five pounds of already trimmed marijuana, police said.

Xiao Hui Lin, 49, was arrested at the Hercules address in connection with the operation, which was connected to the Richmond operation, according to police.
