The annual Bike to Work Day, which occurs during Bike Month, will be celebrated in Richmond on Thursday, May 12.

The event includes four energizer stations across Richmond: At the Richmond BART Station, at Macdonald Avenue and San Pablo Avenue, on the Richmond Greenway at Ohio Avenue and Harbour Way, and at Marina Bay Park along the Bay Trail.

The energizer stations will operate from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and will offer cyclists refreshments and “all kinds of swag and goodies” to enhance the cycling experience.

The purpose of holding the event is to encourage more cycling in order to enhance health, reduce transportation costs and congestion and to improve the environment.

The event is a collaboration involving the city, Bike East Bay, 511 Contra Costa, Rich City Rides, Richmond BPAC, and SunPower.
