The Contra Costa County coroner’s office confirmed Monday that the victim of a fatal shooting in North Richmond Friday night was 19-year-old Adan Gomez of Richmond.

Gomez, who was shot about 7:45 p.m. near the corner of Fifth Street and Grove Avenue, leaves behind a two-year-old daughter. His sister set up an online fundraiser to help pay for the cost of his funeral.

“My brother of 19 was shot by gang members while he was out with friends getting food,” according to the account. “He received three shots to his chest, one impacted his heart and ultimately caused his death.”

No arrests or suspect descriptions have been released as of Monday.

After he was found on a sidewalk by responding county deputies, Gomez was taken to Kaiser Medical Center in Richmond, then John Muir Medical in Walnut Creek, where he died, sheriff’s officials said.

Officials later learned that a second shooting victim went to Kaiser, where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information on any of the shootings is asked to call the sheriff’s investigations division at (925) 313-2600.
