An online fundraiser has been launched for the devastated family of 16-year-old Mauriana Seymore, who was fatally shot in a Richmond home on April 26.

Seymore’s aunt, Kerrie Sandoval, described the teenager as intelligent, mature and filled with potential.

“Mauriana’s passing has been a nightmare to our family that there is no waking up from,” Sandoval wrote in a account. “She loved unconditionally and was loved by many including grandparents, parents, her brother, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.”

Brandon Payne, 19, of Richmond, was arrested in connection with the homicide the same day that is occurred, and a firearm was recovered, police said.

A vigil was held in her honor on Friday, as reported by KTVU-Ch2. Family and friends told the news station Seymore was “full of life” and had just moved from Bay Point to Richmond to live with her uncles. She was reportedly excited about enrolling at a local school.

Anyone wishing to contribute to this grieving family’s fundraiser should click here. The family also encourages readers to share the campaign with others.
