The Richmond Police Department announced it will conduct a DUI checkpoint in the Hilltop neighborhood tonight.
The checkpoint will run from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the intersection of Hilltop Drive and Robert H. Miller Drive.
The DUI checkpoint is funded through an AVOID grant secured by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
Volunteers from the Bay Area chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving will join police at the checkpoint, police said.
The checkpoint is one piece of a greater Bay Area-wide effort to crackdown on drunken driving during the Memorial Day weekend.
The California Highway Patrol says it is deploying all available officers onto freeways and county roads as part of their Maximum Enforcement Period this holiday weekend.
