The Richmond contingent shined at the 8th Annual Central Valley Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in Porterville from April 15-17.

The Richmond Police Department Explorer Post, which consists of young people ages 14-20 participating in law enforcement training, were among 24 Explorer posts from various agencies in California and Nevada.

After their physical, mental and practical application abilities were tested in various areas of law enforcement, the RPD Explorers placed 2nd out of 5 top Explorers posts.

“This year, the majority of our Explorer POST consisted of very junior participants with numerous first-time comers to any competition,” said Michelle Denis Milam, RPD’s crime prevention manager. “The Explorers proudly and respectfully represented The City of Richmond and the Richmond Police Department.”
