BART’s preliminary budget for fiscal year 2017 sets aside funds for the start of construction on its Station Modernization project, which includes major improvements to El Cerrito del Norte Station.

AE3 Partners, the project’s architect, estimates construction to be completed in 2018, according to its website. The AE3 Partners website provides a nice summary of future improvements, along with the video and images (click to enlarge image):

Along with El Cerrito del Norte Station, the preliminary budget funds the start of construction on station modernization projects at Powell, Balboa Park walkway, 19th Street, Concord Plaza and Downtown Berkeley plaza.

In the coming weeks, BART’s fiscal year 2017 budget faces public vetting. The transit agency’s Board of Directors will vote on the budget in June 9.
