James Langford III, a Richmond native, star football player and emerging motivational speaker, has been selected to play for the Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League.

In an announcement on YouTube Friday, he said he’s excited about his chance to play in Germany.

We first heard from Langford last year after coming across his uniquely motivating football recruiting videos on YouTube. Along with showing off his football skills in the videos, Langford employs a gift for public speaking that has been inspiring others.

A recent graduate from Shaw University, Langford ultimately wants to play in the NFL. But his story thus far proves that life is more about the journey than destination.

While Langford’s NFL dream has yet to come true, it has led to two college degrees and the opportunity to travel the country and world. Last year, Langford played for the Kragujevac Wild Boars in Serbia.

“It’s a blessing to be picked out of numerous candidates to go play football around the world; you know, meeting new people, seeing a different place, learning a different culture and putting yourself in a position to succeed in other areas,” Langford said. “The NFL is definitely the goal. But right now we are going to ride this wave, have some fun, we gonna ball out.”
