A seal reportedly stopped multiple vehicles when it sauntered into the westbound Interstate Highway 580 lanes in Marin County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The seal was first reported at about 2:10 p.m. at the west end of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. By the time CHP responded, the seal was no longer there. CHP reported that people reportedly stopped to help guide the animal back in the Bay.

This isn’t the first time a seal crossed a Bay Area highway. In December, a 900-pound elephant seal named “Tolay” caused a stir on Highway 37 near Sears Point.

In a Tweet Friday, CHP quipped that officers were headed to I-580 “to question and her pup.”
