The community is encouraged to take part in a clean up and beautification event Saturday in the Coronado neighborhood from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to the nonprofit For Richmond.
In the corridor on 20th Street between Florida and Ohio avenues, trees and vegetables will be planted, garden boxes will be built and a community mural will be painted with help from children, among other block improving activities.
Participants will be provided with BBQ food, a bounce house and other kid-friendly activities.
This is one of the many projects to come from the “Love Your Block” mini-grant, which allows local residents to apply for a $1,000 grant to carry out a project that reduces blight in their community.
Brandon Evans of For Richmond, along with his neighborhood team, won the award for the Coronado cleanup. For more info, contact Brandon@4richmond.org.
