Boxing returning to Richmond Memorial Auditorium May 21

Up-and-coming and undefeated Richmond boxer Luis Garcia is scheduled to fight again in his hometown on May 21, when boxing returns to Richmond Memorial Auditorium.

Michael Bazan of Squarevision Entertainment informed us Wednesday about the upcoming Night of Glory 3: Battle for the Golden State, which will feature some of the most exciting local fighters and benefits Race to Erase MS, which supports multiple sclerosis research. The event begin at 5 p.m. at Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza. Tickets start at $45.

Local boxing enthusiasts will indeed be watching Garcia (pictured below on left) closely, as the Richmond boxer has been on fire since launching his career last year. In five fights, the Richmond resident has won four, including three by knockout. His only slip up was an epic battle to a draw with Jonathan Zamudio in November. He rebounded last month in Mexico, defeating Ramon Palma.

The card is headlined by Adam Fiel battling Alberto Torres for the featherweight GBO title. It also features Bilal Mahasin defending his GBO junior welterweight title against Brandon Dino Adams, along with Casey Morton of San Francisco taking on Peggy Maerz of New York and Joel Siapno of San Leandro taking on David Cruz.

Also, highly touted welterweight prospect Rudy “The Real Deal” Macedo (1-0 1KO) will make his Bay Area debut against Elih “The Wolf” Lizama (0-1). And Moises “The Hawk” Benitez (4-0 2KOs) of San Jose will battle Zamudio (1-2-3) of San Francisco.

A dollar from every ticket sold will benefit Race to Erase MS, Bazan said.
