National Weather Service issues warning in advance of hot Wednesday

Possible record warm temperatures by midweek in Bay Area

The Bay Area weather will warm up to potentially record-setting temperatures by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

The above image shows The Weather Channel’s 5-day forecast for Richmond, Calif., where temperatures will top out at 84 degrees on Wednesday, which is a 14-degree leap from Monday’s high. In the chart below, you’ll see Santa Rosa potentially reaching a high of 96 degrees Wednesday, which is more than 20 degrees hotter than Monday’s forecast.

“This will be the first heat event of the season and those sensitive to heat should be prepared for very warm temperatures, especially on Wednesday,” NWS warned.

Cooler weather will return Thursday, with showers possible Friday.
