An apartment complex was evacuated after a gas service line was ruptured in the area of Barrett Avenue and Fifth Street in Richmond, according to Pacific Gas & Elecrtic Co.

A third-party contractor notified PG&E at 11:35 a.m. about the ruptured the 3-inch service line, which created a gas leak. The utility sent crews to stop the flow of gas.  A hazardous materials team and fire engines responded to the leak.

Fire Capt. Rico Rincon said no injuries have been reported.
