A 21-year-old man covered in gold spray paint was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs in Richmond Wednesday night after striking three cars on Interstate 80, authorities said.

After witnessing the collisions near the Ashby exit, an off-duty officer followed the suspect to the Central off-ramp, where the wheel of his car fell off, forcing him to stop.

“While en route, we received a description of the suspect as being ‘gold,’ CHP said. “Well, the description was certainly correct as the suspect was covered head to toe in gold spray paint!”

The suspect, identified as Damaj Cook, was subsequently arrested and reportedly told officers his gold paint was for a photo shoot.
