Salesian alum and Vallejo native Jabari Bird has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading Cal to two key wins last week, scoring more than 20 points in consecutive games for the first time in his career, the school said.

The 6-6 guard scored a career-high-tying 24 points in Thursday’s 83-63 upset of then No. 11 Oregon, and 23 in an 83-71 win over Oregon State on Saturday. The wins kept Cal undefeated at home at 16-0 this season.

In both games, he was 64-percent shooting (18-28), including 56 percent (9-16) from three-point range, to help the Golden Bears improve to 17-8 overall, and 7-5 league, which is 1.5 games behind first place.

It was his first Player of the Week honor.
