Leslie Graham Jr. 39, of Richmond, has been identified as the victim of the freeway shooting on Interstate 80 in Richmond Saturday.

The shooting occurred at 1:08 a.m., when the California Highway Patrol began receiving calls about a traffic collision near Hilltop Drive in Richmond.

According to a preliminary investigation, Graham was driving a silver Jeep SUV near Richmond Parkway when occupants of an unknown vehicle drove alongside and fired several rounds into the Jeep. After the shooting, Graham’s vehicle drifted across the roadway and down a steep embankment to the right of the freeway. The Jeep overturned several times, and Graham was ejected from the vehicle, CHP said.

Richmond Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and pronounced Graham deceased at 1:43 a.m.

It was one of seven shooting incidents along Interstate 80 in the East Bay since November.
