The women who make Richmond a beloved community through their service will be honored at the 9th Annual International Women’s Day Celebration on March 4.

The event will take place at Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be community advocate Menbere “Menbe” Aklilu (pictured), the owner of popular Richmond restaurant Salute e Vita Ristorante. Aklilu earned the prestigious Jefferson Award for volunteerism for serving thousands of free meals to veterans and the homeless on Thanksgiving Day. The domestic violence survivor also contributed a $15,000 check to the West County Family Justice Center, a one-stop services center in Richmond for victims of abuse, and has formed a fund to continue and grow her local charitable efforts.

See the flyer for more information about the upcoming, and free, community event.
