A Richmond man was arrested late Monday in connection with a triple shooting at the Twin Peaks lookout in San Francisco on Sunday that left two people dead and a third seriously injured, according to police and news reports.

Police responded to the tourist destination at 2:06 a.m. Sunday and found Santa Rosa residents Julio Peraza, 21, and Rena Mora, 19, fatally shot and an 18-year-old man seriously injured.

After the shooting, the suspect stole a dark gray GMC Yukon Denali from two tourists and fled.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Richmond resident Richard Contreras, who was arrested late Monday night in Richmond, where authorities spotted the stolen SUV. Multiple local residents reported to the Richmond Standard about the heavy police activity that followed to ensure Contreras was detained.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been revealed.

Contreras is being held on suspicion of two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and also carjacking and firearms charges.
