The body of a 54-year-old man who was murdered in San Jose was discovered in his car in Richmond, and his son (pictured) is being sought in connection with the homicide, police said.

San Jose resident Evgeniy Zhukov was reported missing to police by a family member on New Year’s Day just before 9 p.m., police said.

On Monday, investigators received information that his son, Maxim Zhukov, was possibly involved in the disappearance. With help from that info, Richmond police located the elder Zhukov’s deceased in his vehicle in Richmond.

Further investigation indicated the homicide did not occur in Richmond but rather at the victim’s home on Neptune Court in San Jose, which was searched by authorities, police said.

San Jose police have taken over the case and have a murder warrant for Maxim Zhukov.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Rick Yu or Det. Wayne Smith of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 408-277-5283.
