Kindergarten registration in the West Contra Costa Unified School District will begin on Monday, Jan. 11, for children who turn five years old on or before Sept. 1 of this year, according to a district statement.

Daily between 9 a.m. and noon and between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., parents and guardians can register at their neighborhood elementary schools in the cities of Hercules, Pinole, San Pablo, Richmond and El Cerrito and the communities of El Sobrante, Tara Hills, and Kensington.

Parents or guardians must bring a birth certificate or baptismal record for the child, immunization record, and address verification in the form of a utility bill or rental agreement.

Open enrollment period for transfers within the district for the 2016-17 school year runs from Feb. 1 to Feb. 12.
