Locals are encouraged to attend a free event at Richmond Memorial Auditorium on Saturday where they can enroll in or renew their health insurance plans.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza.

“There will be free assistance at the event by certified enrollment counselors so that people can find the best options for themselves and their families either through Covered California, Medi-Cal or a new program called Contra Costa Cares,” City Manager Bill Lindsay said at Tuesday’s council meeting.

Representatives of the City of Richmond, CA Environmental and Health Initiatives agency and a host of community organizations will be among those assisting community members in applying for free or low-cost healthcare.
