San Pablo Mayor Rich Kinney has a powerful voice in more ways than one.
Despite the rain, the newly appointed mayor brought a nice helping of sunlight into the community by essentially serenading his nearly 2,000 Facebook followers — many of them local community members — in a brief video Wednesday morning.
“It’s a beautiful morning even though rain is on the way,” the mayor stated as an introduction to the video. “Have a blessed day everyone!”
Kinney’s impressive Acapella performance offered a glimpse into what it might be like if Adele ran your city. In the least, the mayor’s good vibes brightened the mornings of many.
But Kinney’s singing ability isn’t new in these parts. His Facebook account identifies him as a “patriotic singer,” which indeed he has been. Several YouTube videos show the mayor singing the national anthem and “God Bless America” at local events including a law enforcement appreciation event, high school basketball game and at the Rosie the Riveter Visitor’s Center in Richmond.
And he really does have a nice set of pipes.
Kinney, who was elected to San Pablo council in 2012, was appointed by fellow elected members to serve as mayor for a one-year term in 2016. He is also running for State Senate (District 9) in the November election.
