This was difficult to see for a landscaper.

One of our readers who goes by A Ivan Orduno on Facebook shared a video with us from Thursday night, when sprinklers were going off at the Richmond Civic Center in the  middle of a rain storm.

Orduno, who says he’s a landscaper skilled in irrigation, said his filming took place near the intersection of Macdonald Avenue and 27th Street. For the city to be shooting off sprinklers in the middle of a rain storm and during a drought is “totally ridiculous,” Orduno said.

“The sprinklers are not even calibrated; they are over-spraying into the benches,” he said. “This is where our taxes go: wasting water.”

He later added, “I hope the city will do something about this. I’m just tired of seeing this, it’s pretty sad.”

  1. Leading by example? Let’s hope this was a system problem, not a human one.
