Two men have been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting in Richmond on Aug. 31 that killed 66-year-old Carl Roberts, police said.

After two months of intense investigation, according to police, 18-year-old Anthony Timmons (pictured on right) was arrested Thursday in San Diego while 33-year-old Antoine Saucer (left) was arrested Tuesday in Richmond, police Lt. Felix Tan said. Both suspects are Richmond residents and were booked on murder charges.

The incident unfolded about 2 a.m. Aug. 31 when police responded to a ShotSpotter gun detection system near the intersection of S. 35th Street and Ohio Avenue, where Roberts was found lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

“The department is proud of the detectives’ hard work and team effort that led to the arrest of two dangerous individuals,” Tan said. “We would like to thank the San Diego Police Department and other allied agencies involved in this case for their assistance.  We hope the arrest of these two suspects will allow Mr. Roberts’ family closure to his undeserving and senseless death, and that justice will soon prevail.”
