The Richmond Downtown Holiday Festival is set to take place at the East Bay Center for the Performing Arts tonight and features performances of “A Richmond Nutcracker” followed by a holiday street lighting and caroling.
The entire community is invited to come down to the historic Winter’s Building at 339 11th St., where things will kick off at 4 p.m. and run through 8 p.m. Admission is free.
Performances of the Richmond Nutracker will begin at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. A La Rama Procession follows afterward and will precede the holiday street lighting and caroling, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
Also, Santa Claus will visit from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and light refreshments, special holiday treats and free books will be offered while supplies last.
The event is being held through a partnership between the Richmond Main Street Initiative and East Bay Center for the Performing Arts. Other sponsors include the City of Richmond, Kaiser Permanente, the Share the Spirit program, Sims Metal Management, Mechanics Bank, and individual donors and volunteers.
