El Cerrito missing person probe now a homicide; victim’s daughter sought

El Cerrito police: Search continues for Lisa Osibin in connection with mother's murder

Authorities are searching for the woman pictured in connection with the murder of her 90-year-old mother, whose remains were found at an El Cerrito home on Dec. 2.

Mary Osibin of El Cerrito was reported missing on Friday, Nov. 27, and an investigation by El Cerrito police led to a search of her house in the 1000 block of Leneve Place. During a search, investigators found Osibin’s remains stuffed in a garbage barrel in the garage, and it was determined following an autopsy that she had been shot to death, police said.

As a result, investigators obtained a warrant for the arrest of the victim’s daughter Alicia Osibin, 50, on murder charges.

“Detectives believe the crime occurred several months ago,” police said.

Alicia used to live in the house and her current whereabouts are unknown. Neighbors told investigators that she had expressed an intention to travel to Arizona and Southern California, police said.

Police believe that Alicia Osibin is in possession of a firearm and could be dangerous. She is described as a heavy set, multiracial female, approximately 5-8 tall who often wears masculine clothing. She is known to rent vehicles from rental companies for several months at a time and previously worked in the cleaning industry and may be still working in that business.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call the El Cerrito Police Department at 510-215-4400 during normal business hours or at (510) 233-1234 after hours. Information can also be sent by email to Investigations@ci.el-cerrito.ca.us or by using the El Cerrito Police app, available for download through Apple and Android stores.
