I hope you’ll join me in honoring the men and women who have served our country in the military on Veterans Day, November 11. Numerous events are planned, including at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting Nov. 10.

Tuesday, Nov. 10

What: Board of Supervisors ceremony, focus on Vietnam Veterans; keynote speaker: author, photographer and Vietnam Veteran Steve Burchik.

When: 11 a.m. to noon, Nov. 10

Where: Board of Supervisors Chamber, 651 Pine Street, Martinez

Wednesday, Nov. 11

What: Veterans Resource Fair, Richmond — assistance with healthcare, housing, education. Children’s acitivities. For veterans, their families, the community.

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 11

Where: 934 Maine Avenue, Richmond

What: Pinole Historical Society’s Veterans Day Memorial, with traditional flag retirement ceremony, singing, tributes, school groups.

What: El Cerrito Veterans Day Flag Placing (on veterans’ graves), with youth groups. Refreshments. Flags supplied. Sponsored by the El Cerrito Lions Club.
