By Joseph Jackson, Chairperson for the Richmond Youth Council,

Hello Everyone. First, thank you for taking the time to read this, it truly means a lot to me and my colleagues.

The Richmond Youth Council serves as an advisory body to the Richmond City Council on all matters pertaining to youth. Our job is to ensure the young people of Richmond are heard and taken into account in the creation of public policy. We aspire to be young leaders, and we are excited to learn, serve and participate in the progress of our community.

Over the past year, the Youth Council as a whole has worked to establish a solid foundation in order to be a viable, long-term institution. Now we’re ready to take a more active role in advancing issues that are important to local youth. I would like to encourage you as fellow community members and leaders to come to our meetings and participate. We want to hear about what issues are important to you and your family and how we can do a better job to fight for you.

Richmond Youth Council meetings are currently held the first and third Monday of each month in the Richmond City Council Chambers located at 440 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond, CA 94804. Meetings start at 6:30 p.m. Every member of the public can come and make public comments in the open forum section of the agenda, and speak to our members in depth, and have the ability to be scheduled on the agenda for time to give presentations.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to see you at our next meeting.
