The Richmond man who was killed Saturday night in a shooting in West Oakland has been identified by police as 37-year-old Abebe Bent, according to the Bay Area News Group (BANG).

The incident occurred at 7:32 p.m. near 21st and Market streets, where someone opened fire at Bent as he was standing near a car containing two women and a 4-year-old, according to the news organization. Although Bent was apparently the intended target, the two women were also wounded in the shooting, but survived. The child wasn’t hit.

After he was shot, Bent ran around the corner but collapsed and died, BANG reported.

A $30,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Anyone with information is encouraged to call police at (510) 238-3821 or Crime Stoppers at (510) 777-8572.
