The death of a man who suffered gunshot wounds before crashing his vehicle into his own home in unincorporated San Pablo last week is now being investigated as a homicide, authorities announced Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies found Dante Alexander, 25, slumped down and unconscious in the driver’s seat of the vehicle that had crashed into his home in the 1200 block of Karen Road about 4:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, according to the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff.

Alexander was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Detectives are actively investigating the case as a homicide, according to the sheriff’s office. As of this writing, no suspects had been identified.
