Two recent shootings on Interstate Highway 80 in West County may be related, the California Highway Patrol told several news outlets Wednesday.

“There’s evidence to suggest both these shootings are related to each other,” CHP Officer Clayton Nett told KTVU (Ch. 2). “The evidence that CHP has discovered cannot be released at this time because it is an ongoing investigation.”

The most recent incident occurred Tuesday about 11 p.m. when a man was killed and a woman injured by gunfire as they traveled in the eastbound lanes near Pinole Valley Road.

On Nov. 2, a man was shot and injured while driving on the highway near San Pablo Dam Road, authorities said.

None of the victims have been identified, and no arrests have been announced. CHP is seeking the public’s assistance.

Witnesses or anyone with information about the homicide to call CHP at 1-800-TELL-CHP or (510) 450-3821.
