A 13-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound above her knee in the 2900 block of Pullman Avenue in Richmond Wednesday.
Police believe she was not the intended target and was simply in the area when the gunfire erupted.
Richmond police officers responded to ShotSpotter gunshot-detection technology that registered shots in the area at 4:55 p.m., Lt. Felix Tan said.
Responding officers found the girl and immediately transported her to a local hospital. She is expected to survive, Tan said.
According to a preliminary investigation, a pair of suspects in a white car was traveling north on Carlson Boulevard opened fire into the direction of the Pullman Townhouses. The girl happened to be in the area when the shooting occurred. No one else was injured, Tan said.
