A Richmond man died Thursday night after following an altercation with another man, police said today.

During a dispute in the parking lot outside Shop & Save Liquor at 15th Street and Cutting Boulevard, 26-year-old Roshon Brown struck 66-year-old Eric Rismay once in the face with an open hand, Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said.

After the assault, Rismay walked into the store, where he collapsed. Officers responded to the scene just before 7:30 p.m. and found Rismay unconscious. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, Hill said. The cause of death is not known.

Brown, of Richmond, was still at the scene when police arrived and is being held on manslaughter charges, Hill said.

Brown and Rismay know each other, and Brown was apparently upset at Rismay due to a dispute involving a member of Brown’s family, Hill said.
