Community members are encouraged to attend the Bowling Party and Proclamation Awards event this weekend that will celebrate the success of Soulful Softball Sunday.

The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday at Pinole Valley Lanes, 1580 Pinole Valley Rd., according to community advocate Rodney Alamo Brown. The event costs $10 for two hours of bowling.

Those needing tickets can call Antwon Cloird at (510) 776-9620 and Marvin Saucer at (510) 760-6061, but they should call soon because the tickets are going fast and must be purchased by Friday, 9 p.m. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Soulful Softball Sundays, which was presented by The Sons of Issachar and Men and Women of Purpose, was launched in July at Nichol Park as a way to unify the community. The Sunday games became an instant and ever-growing hit and earned a Richmond City Council proclamation for bringing the community together in a positive, active and unifying way.
