Menbe’s Way Fund, the new charitable arm of Menbere “Menbe” Aklilu, a community advocate and owner of popular Richmond restaurant Salute e Vita Ristorante, is set to hold its third fundraiser benefiting veterans on Thursday.

From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., community member are invited to enjoy live music, champagne and wine tastings at Salute’s, 1900 Esplanade Dr.

While the event is free, donations are encouraged in order to assist Menbe’s Way Fund in supporting Salute’s annual, well-known Thanksgiving feast serving thousands of local veterans.

It is the third and final fundraiser for the Salute’s Thanksgiving event, which has drawn support from a number of community members, leaders and businesses since its inception. Aklilu has become somewhat of a local hero, not only for her charitable works that go beyond the Thanksgiving event, but also for her inspiring story of survival.

Menbe’s Way is managed by the nonprofit Richmond Community Foundation. Aklilu is also a member of the Richmond Community Foundation board and intends to use the Menbe’s Way Fund to contribute to additional charitable efforts. Read more here:
