A 19-year-old was shot in Richmond Friday following what police suspect could have started as a road rage incident.

The shooting occurred at 12:55 p.m. Friday at S. 41st Street and Berk Avenue, where police found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his stomach, police Lt. Andre Hill said. He was transported to John Muir Medical Center in critical but stable condition.

The teen was apparently involved in car chase with another vehicle that ended at 41st and Berk, where the 19-year-old got out of his car and approached the other vehicle. A passenger in the other vehicle then shot him.

The suspects fled and there have been no arrests, Hill said.

“We think the two cars were having some sort of road rage incident,” he added.
