A 50-inch plasma television that was among the valuables stolen during a destructive burglary at Kennedy High earlier this year is being replaced thanks to the Chevron Fuel Your School program, a teacher told us.

Sometime during the night of March 11, a thief or thieves broke into the campus and ransacked multiple rooms, including one for students with severe disabilities, and also stole a laptop and even a student’s medication.

We haven’t received word about an arrest or suspects in the case. Last weekend, however, special education teacher Sal Morabito told us his classroom is slated to receive a replacement TV thanks to the Fuel Your School program, which funds teacher requests for classroom supplies through DonorsChoose.org. Both the new and stolen TVs were funded through Fuel Your School, said Morabito, adding that his classroom has taken advantage of the program for five consecutive years.

“Now thanks to Chevron our students will again be able to fully enjoy our special needs library, which includes a science program also funded by Chevron Fuel Your School,” Morabito said.
