Authorities are searching for a suspect (pictured above) after finding a man deceased in his home in unincorporated San Pablo Wednesday morning.

Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies responded about 9:30 a.m. on a report of a medical call in the 5700 block of Alpine Road, where they found Jay Welch, 54, dead in his home, according to news reports.

It was determined that Welch’s death was a homicide, and deputies say they’ve already identified a suspect.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Lamingo Johnson, 45, a West County resident, saying he is suspected of targeting Welch in the killing.

No further details about the case, including motive or manner of death, are being released at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
