Following a dominating 61-6 victory over Oakland Tech on Sept. 11, El Cerrito High football coach Kenny Kahn was named the Oakland Raiders High School “Coach of the Week,” according to the West Contra Costa Unified School District.

For that honor, the Raiders and NFL Foundation donated $1,000 to the school’s football program. In the photo above, Coach Kahn is receiving the check from Oakland Raiders guard Tony Bergstrom.

Coach Kahn’s Gauchos exhibited an “impressive offensive and defensive showing” in defeating Oakland Tech, the Raiders organization reported.

The win was also the Guachos’ first of the season. The team heads into into another non-conference game Saturday against Lassen with a 1-3 record thus far.

The week before Coach Kahn received the Coach of the Week honor, the Raiders gave the same title to brothers Ramsey and Kemp Moyer, coaches for Alameda High, after the team scored a last-minute TD to seal a 19-15 win over Washington High School on Sept. 5.
