Richmond school encourages community to participate in Christmas letter drive for military

With some folks already done shopping for Christmas, it’s certainly not too early to start writing holiday thank you letters to members of our U.S. military.

Vista Christian School, which serves K-12 at 2354 Andrade Ave., is hosting A Million Thanks Christmas Letter Drive, where from Oct. 15 to Nov. 6 the school will be a local drop-off location for those wanting to mail thank you letters to the military.

The school is asking community members, schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to write cards, letters, emails and prayer messages of appreciation for past and present military personnel.

“It is our goal to see that our military – active, reserve, and veterans – receive these messages, whether they are serving at home, abroad, or are injured in hospitals,” Vista Christian Principal Dennis Snyder said. “Be creative! Draw pictures, talk about you, and let them know their service does not go unnoticed.”

A Million Thanks is a year-round campaign that, since its founding by a Southern California high school student in 2004, has sent more than 7.5 million cards worldwide. More on the organization here.
