The community is encouraged to attend the Richmond Police Department’s free Safe City Summer crime prevention fair at City Hall on Saturday.

The event, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 450 Civic Center Plaza, will feature a backpack giveaway for local students, crime prevention demonstrations and even a location where residents can get their fix-it tickets signed off. The department will not be able to process citation payments at the fair.

Along with food and a kids zone, there will also be giveaways of wheel and window locks and a place to discard unneeded or expired prescription drugs.

Residents will have a great opportunity to meet their neighbors and beat cops, police said.
