A teenager was shot and injured in the 100 block of 19th Street Tuesday, an incident believed to be related to an earlier attempted robbery, police said.

The victim was in stable condition following the shooting, which occurred just after 5:20 p.m., Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said.

Arriving officers found the man with a bullet wound to his upper torso, an injury not believed to be life threatening, Hill said.

The suspect was a black male wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, police said.

An earlier report from police indicated that an adult had been shot, but that report has been amended to say the victim was a juvenile.
