Richmond Trees, the community organization formed in 2011 in order to create a healthy urban forest covering at least 40-percent of the city, is inviting community members to take part in its 2nd annual Run-for-the-Trees event, which includes 5K and 10K distances.
Both runners and walkers have nearly eight weeks in order to prepare for the event, which will take place Oct. 10 in conjunction with the 2015 Richmond Homefront Festival. The festival will be held at Lucretia Edwards Park, the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park visitors center and SS Red Oak Victory.
“Last year, it was the first time racing for several of our runners, and we would love to have some more people take this on as a personal fitness goal,” Richmond Trees stated in its latest newsletter.

What you need to know:
- Each participant agrees to raise a minimum of $250. Get your friends and family to sponsor you with their small or large donations to reach the $250. It’s a great way for people to support you and cheer you on, while helping raise money for Richmond Trees.
2. As a team member, you will receive a Run-for-the-trees t-shirt and your race entry fee will be covered.
3. Day of race – Have Fun!! You can do this!
4. After completing the race, collect the money from your sponsors. * All checks must be made out to “Richmond Community Foundation” with “Richmond Trees” in the memo line. Please send the money to Richmond Trees at P.O. Box 2887, Richmond, CA 94802 by 10/19.
