The University of Arizona head football coach had big things to say about a 6-foot-8 offensive lineman from Richmond who is joining the team this season, according to the school’s newspaper.
“He can do, like, Incredible Hulk commercials,” Coach Rich Rodriguez said about Freddie Tagaloa, a transfer who red-shirted at Cal last year.
“He’s a mountain of a man who loves football,” Rodriguez added.
Tagaloa, who graduated from Salesian High, will likely play an important part on a young offensive line that suffered the loss of Jordan Poland, who was arrested and kicked off the team last month.
Tagaloa “will be asked to carry the load up front for a line that needs to stay healthy and sharp,” according to the Daily Wildcat.
In January, Tagaloa told the Bay Area News Group that he left Cal partly because he did not feel the present coaching staff would help hone him into an NFL-caliber player. The Bears finished 1-11 last season.
