Richmond native Travis Feeney (No. 41 in the above picture), a linebacker for the University of Washington Huskies, was one of two seniors on his team to be named to the preseason watch list for the Dick Butkus Award.

The award honors the nation’s best linebackers.

Feeney, who graduated from Pinole Valley High, joins the preseason watch list for the highly regarded honor with teammate Cory Littleton of Spring Valley, Calif. (No. 42 in above picture). The two “represent the remaining veteran presence in a Husky front seven that saw six starters depart from last season’s team,” the university reported.

The school commended Feeney for playing in 39 of a possible 40 games during his Huskies career, starting 20 of them. Last season, he earned the Huskies’ Most Outstanding Special Teams Player award following 60 tackles and two interceptions.
